Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is set to announce her candidacy for statewide office just after noon today. For months Grimes has stated she would run for statewide office but has been mum on which office she will seek. Grimes, who lost her race against Senator Mitch McConnell in November, is largely expected to announce she will seek a second term as Secretary of State. With current Attorney General Jack Conway already having amassed over $1.3 million for his Gubernatorial primary campaign, and Governor Beshear's son, Andrew Beshear already exceeding $1.3 million for his primary effort to replace Jack Conway as AG, it would make little sense for Grimes to annnounce a candidacy for either of those primary races. More details coming soon.
