Elvis will make a guest appearance at Mike Linnig’s next Saturday, May 9, 2015. Everyone’s favorite Hunka Hunka Burnin’ Love will entertain all his fans at Valley Station’s premier restaurant and entertainment venue. (Okay. We know the real Elvis is in the Graceland in the Sky, but Don Goodfleisch has been entertaining audiences with his tribute to Elvis since 1998, and is pretty close to the real thing. Don’t be cruel.)
The Ninth Annual “O-Fishal MusicFest” kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Mike Linnig’s famous restaurant, at 9308 Cane Run Road, in Valley Station. Food will be served from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and the MusicFest Tent will be open from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Thursday evening entertainment will include EJ Daddy Tom and Guests, and Personnel Only.
On Friday and Saturday, food service will last until 10:00 p.m., and the MusicFest Tent will keep jumpin’ until 11:00 p.m.
Friday night’s bill will include Lyndsey Henken & her band, along with Dale Scharre & The Hotlicks.
Saturday evening, EJ Daddy Tom returns, along with the Legendary Cruisers Band. And, that Teddybear, Elvis (by Don) will appear from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Back in 1925, Mike Linnig and his wife, Carrie Wessel, started a small roadside stand selling fresh fruit and vegetables to the people in the Valley Station area. It soon became known as "Mike's Place". The stand was enlarged to a small building where cold sandwiches, soft drinks, candies and freshly squeezed apple cider were served. Fresh fish sandwiches were added made basically from the same recipe used today. All of the family pitched in to help, including the eight children, to keep the farm and beginning restaurant going.
Mike, Carrie, and their sons, Bill Sr. and Len, are no longer with us, but the third generation of the Linnig family is still at the same spot on Cane Run Road; serving up delicious food and sparkling entertainment for several generations of Louisville folks.
