Cellar Door Chocolates, a gourmet chocolate confectionary, celebrated a ribbon cutting for the opening of its third retail location at 601A South Fourth Street today. Cellar Door Chocolates was started in 2007 as a wholesale, gourmet chocolate confectionary in Louisville, KY. Over the past eight years, owner Erika Chavez-Graziano and her team have built a reputation on Cellar Door’s handmade truffles, Bourbon buttercreams, sea salt caramels, toffees and barks.

“Cellar Door Chocolates’ evolution is a fantastic example of entrepreneurship and ingenuity,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “Its continued expansion is a positive sign for small businesses in Louisville.”

The new Cellar Door location will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and serves dual purposes. Part of the location will serve as a showroom where products can be sampled and purchased, while the other part will be a café with outdoor seating. The café will feature Red Hot Roasters Coffee, cupcakes and desserts by Just Call Me Cupcake, original art by Douglas Miller Art, and Cellar Door Chocolates’ own creations.

“We’re so excited to be opening a new location in the heart of Downtown Louisville,” said Cellar Door Chocolates’ owner Erika Chavez-Graziano. “Retail is such a big part of our business model. It gives customers the opportunity to ask our sales team one-on-one questions and to try new things.”

With the opening of this new location, Cellar Door Chocolates will be turning their original location at 1201 Story Avenue into a cacao bean-to-bar factory. The addition, which allows them to produce 100-1000 pounds of hand-crafted chocolate per week, makes them the first chocolate mass producer in the state. Cellar Door Chocolates will import cocoa beans from around the world to be used in the factory and public tours will soon be available.

Patrons can access the new location from Fourth Street and the Hilton Garden Inn lobby. Cellar Door Chocolates operates their third location at a kiosk inside the Oxmoor Center.
