This is a Chicago based crime prevention model. Please! This proposal will hire a dozen convicted felons, former drug dealers and gang members to become employees of the city, to the tune of $600,000. Another feel good crime prevention proposal that will do nothing to prevent crime. I am not opposed to the idea, but this is better suited to be run by churches and other charities, rather than paid for by tax dollars. Let that money go to policing.

From the article - It calls for sending reformed drug dealers, gang members and convicted felons with street credibility into high-crime areas to quash tensions before they can escalate.
