Old Louisville will be the place to be this weekend when one of the area’s great entertainment events gets underway with the kickoff of Springfest 2015 set against the backdrop of one of the city’s most unique neighborhoods.

“Old Louisville has a sense of pride and warm hospitality with many events in the area and Springfest is no exception,” says Councilman David James (D-6). “It is a great way to celebrate the season, learn more about one of the city’s most historic areas and kickback and have some fun.”

Councilman James and the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council present the 4th Annual old Louisville Springfest on Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th. "The Old Louisville Springfest is all about celebrating all things Old Louisville and Local. With 150 + venders, food truck and kids zone the festival is set to delight persons of all ages this Friday and Saturday,” says Dan Mason, Chair of the Springfest Committee. “All proceeds will go to back to Old Louisville projects to help maintain this community. Special thanks to all of our sponsors and volunteers who help make it happen."

"Another great opportunity to showcase what's great about Old Louisville, It’s a fun time. Thanks to Dan Mason and the Committee Thanks Councilman James for his continued support,” says Howard Rosenstein, Chair of the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council.

For the last three years, the 1200 to 1330 block of First Street and East and West block of Ormsby Avenue have been the center point of Springfest’s music and entertainment.

This year’s fun kicks off at 4:00pm on Friday and last until 9:00pm. Then resume on Saturday from 10:00pm until 9:00pm.

This year, Springfest will feature internationally renowned jazz/pop singer Karan Chavis on Saturday night at 6:00pm. She is accomplished as a jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and country vocalist.

On Friday and Saturday, In Lightening, one of the hottest and most creative bands on the local scene will perform. The event will feature the following:

Kosair Kids Zone – To help raise funds for children in need, we’re proud to offer an entire area for the kids to learn, play and sing!

Food, Food, Food! – There will be festive food choices and local food trucks There will also be a wide range of music on First Street with a mix of street entertainment and local bands on both Friday and Saturday nights.

“Old Louisville is the perfect place to enjoy the weekend and great setting to enjoy Springfest 2015,” says James. “And if it has been awhile since you have come down to this area, this is the perfect time to come visit us.”
